EVENT INSPIRATIONS

+1 Party Ideas

+1 party ideas are on the rise! Have you heard about this theme? Traditionally a +1 meant to bring along a guest of your choice. Essentially this still remains to be true! However today when we’re talking about +1party ideas we’re talking about milestone birthdays. A +1 party is for the boys and girls who may be struggling a little with rounding up their age! For example, 29+1 for a 30th birthday; 39+1 for a 40th birthday and on it goes. We’ve all been to countless milestone birthday parties – but if you’re looking for a unique theme a +1 party may be right for you!

Milestone birthday themes are readily available. Why not shake it up by hosting a plus one party instead? There are plenty of resources on sites like Pinterest to get the creative party planning juices flowing.

Jodie did just that when looking at +1 party ideas for her Karratha celebration. We’re sure you can all agree from the photos that this is one party we’d all like to be at! Jodie put so much through into the details for her event. As well as the plus one theme there was also a super fun pink dress code!

+1 Party Ideas in Karratha!

Guests were treated with custom made sunglasses and Yellowglen Pink on arrival. A bluebird Karratha day was ordered in advance which made this indoor/outdoor celebration all the more stunning!

A gorgeous pink themed balloon backdrop was a popular location for heaps of Guest Cam photos. We thought Jodie’s choice of our Rainbow Confetti design for her booth prints was a perfect match! Dancing and speeches were all part of the festivities. Guests’ bright outfits popped against the classic back backdrop. Last but not least, how fun are those flamingo head bands?!

Thanks for having In the Booth Karratha along to help celebrate Jodie! Hope to see you all again at your 49+1!

Photo Booth Award Press Release

PHOTO BOOTH AWARD

Queensland’s #1 Photo Booth

More than 350 of Queensland’s best wedding vendors — venues, photographers, celebrants, floral designers, cake designers and the like — convened at Brisbane City Hall recently for the 26th Annual Queensland ABIA Wedding Awards and a wedding celebration of epic proportions.

Local Photo Booth awarded prestigious wedding industry accolade.

With invitations limited only to the state’s highest-ranking wedding specialists and 37 awards up for grabs including the Photo Booth Award. 10,130 newlywed Queensland newlyweds are invited to determine the results. The onstage announcements of ABIA’s Managing Director Natasha O’Meara held the finalists’ attention amid the cascades of flowers that filled the main auditorium and the live band, violinist and saxophonists that serenaded them.

Among the winners announced, local Photo Booth In the Booth QLD, took out the title of Queensland’s Best Photo Booth Hire. The photo booth award win celebrates their hard work, perseverance and dedication throughout 2024. This recognition within the wedding industry is a remarkable attainment.

“They should take great pride in this accomplishment,” Ms O’Meara remarked. “It reflects their unwavering commitment, passion, and professionalism in delivering their products and services to couples marrying in Queensland.”

Backyard Wedding Considerations

WEDDING INSPIRATION

Considering a backyard wedding?

Hosting a backyard wedding is such a sentimental and awesome way to celebrate your special day. If you’ve opted against the all-inclusive wedding venue, maybe you’ve seen the same wedding repeated. It might be time to consider hosting your wedding at home. While there is bound to be more work involved by planning the day yourself, we can assure you some of the best events our booths have attended have been right at home. Here are some things to consider when planning your backyard wedding.

Backyard Wedding Locations

While getting married in Nan’s backyard might be the dream, there’s realities to consider. If it’s too small and uneven there won’t be any room for a boogie. Consider the logistics and practicality of hosting a backyard wedding. We love the idea of getting married at a sentimental spot but there’s practicalities to consider. Don’t forget you will need to ensure there is enough space for guests, tables, chairs, dancing, food, gift and speeches. For one thing, is the surface event? Guests in formal footwear tripping over gravel will not make for a relaxing evening! Likewise if you’ll be on a grass surface. You need rain to keep it green but not too much rain so it’s a quagmire! Remember vendors will need a hard, flat and stable surface for equipment. Guests will need to be getting around the space easily – you wouldn’t want any accidents on the night!

Power Access

When planning your backyard wedding it’s important to remember you will need sufficient power. It’s important to make sure you have enough power for vendors so there will be no power source issues. Imagine the music cutting off right before the chorus of the first dance! Power surges and issues are one of the most common problems we encounter at backyard wedding events. Catering equipment will cause a huge surge in power which can cause other items to drop out. Likewise for DJ lighting when the dance floor starts to ramp up. Then there’s power management throughout the night. If the generator runs low on fuel, who will be attending to that? Power at a private event requires it’s own qualified and experienced staff member. They can manage loading and anticipate any problems.

Weather

Rain on your wedding day is good luck right? Luck aside, if the heavens decide to open on your wedding day with no protections this could lead to disaster!  Make sure you have a backup in the case of bad weather such as a marquee. Think of the surface you’ll be on as well. If it’s wet on your day is there a back up flooring option to keep your dress clean and guests comfortable? No one wants to face the reality of a ‘Plan B’. Of course, you’re aiming for a perfect sunny day! However if the day arrives and it’s raining, you’ll still be married and it will still be wonderful! You just need to ensure some plans are in place to prevent stressful situations.

Dance Floor

It’s not a party without a dance floor! When planning your backyard wedding it’s important to allocate a spot for dancing! We all know once the speeches wrap up and the cake is cut, the rest of the night is for celebrating the night away. Make sure you have allocated enough space for guests to get down and boogie. Likewise there should also be break out space for older or non-dancing guests to be able to escape the music and chat. A hard dance floor surface will be much more enjoyable for guests dancing in heels. You don’t want people getting bogged in the grass during ‘Twist and Shout’!

Australian Country Wedding for Chloe & Morgan

MACKAY WEDDING

Private Property Wedding in Mackay Queensland

Thinking of an Australian country wedding for your big day? They’re a hard one to beat! If you’re after a relaxed feel for your big day an Australian country wedding theme may be the perfect fit for you. In the Booth Mackay were invited to bring the photo booth fun at Morgan and Chloe’s big day. They hosted their nuptials on a private property near Mackay.

Australian Country Wedding in Mackay

Morgan and Chloe selected Autumn as their Australian country wedding season. Who could blame them! There’s nothing more gorgeous than north Queensland weather in the autumn. The heat of summer is behind us and being outdoors becomes a pleasure instead of a chore.

Weather is a big consideration when planning your Australian country wedding. Likewise is your location on the map! A winter wedding in Darwin is a different consideration to a winter wedding in Melbourne and so on. Always think about the season when researching your venue and available wedding dates. Remember, off season dates may have better deals but there may also be weather concerns to contend with.

How beautiful are the colours Morgan and Cloe selected for their day? Chloe’s bridesmaids wore differing gowns in the same rust colour that stood out boldly against the country landscape. Australiana flowers were the perfect complement to their gowns and the colours of the season. The gentlemen opted for a country casual look with suspenders and black slacks.

Vintage cars were a highlight of Morgan and Chloe’s day perfectly adding to their vintage country theme. Their reception was hosted outdoors under a tent of twinkling fairy lights. The ladies donned custom denim jackets to ward off the evening chill while the photobooth ramped things up. Our lovely couple chose a chalkboard effect print design coupled with our classic grey backdrop. We loved the end result of their sweet photo strips!

Thank you so much for booking with us Mr & Mrs Simpson! We hope you had the best day ever.

Vintage Photobooth Hire

Vintage photobooth hire. It sounds like a great idea…until it’s not! True vintage photobooth hire for events is now almost impossible to find. The reason being is that vintage booths were never designed to service special events. They were designed to be in static locations.

Vintage photobooths were a marvel back in the day. Before the general public were able to afford their own film cameras there were photo booth locations. People of every age would flock to public places to create a photo booth time stamp of that moment in time.

Vintage Photobooth Hire bought into the 21st century!

The processing equipment required to make these booths function was incredible. Not to mention the special developing chemicals required to develop the photo strip – in a super fast 8-10 minutes! All that equipment and chemical is extremely heavy; often in the realms of 400kg.

Now imagine manoeuvring that 400kg box in and out of a vehicle and then in and out of an event space! As recently as the late 2000’s companies were still trying to use passport style photo booths for events. Their locations were extremely limited due to their weight and size. How many event venues do you visit that don’t have steps? Take it from us that there was no easy way to realistically service hundreds of weddings and events each year with that style of booth.

In 2009 In the Booth’s never before seen design entered the marketplace and it’s been a hit ever since! We’ve kept all the important things that make vintage photobooth hire. For example, our booths are and always will be enclosed. Why? It’s just better! After all, how can it be a photo booth without the actual booth? Half the fun of a photo booth is pulling that curtain closed. There’s also plenty of fun to be found in our video guest book feature which is able to record sound in our enclosed environment.

Practical and Accessible

We can get our event-industry focussed design in and out of any venue. We’ve been on boats and on top of mountains (literally). Each piece of equipment we need can be carried by our single operator so we can guarantee we can access your space.

One thing we make no apologies for leaving behind is the nasty chemicals that were required to develop images. With the chemicals we also abandoned the long wait time for photos. Your guests will be enjoying instant prints around every 30 seconds! There’s no waiting for the prints to dry or taking photos with your phone for digital copies. We’ve thought of it all.

Wedding Photo Station Ideas

What is a wedding photo station exactly? A popular DIY option for a guest photo experience at weddings and events is setting up a photo station. The idea is that guests can find the photo station during the event and capture their photo memories. There are a few different ways a photo station can be added to an event. Let’s break them down into a few categories.

Photo Backdrop

A backdrop or photo wall is a popular way of creating a photo station. A backdrop can be created out of fabric, a wire frame with balloons or any other creative options. The sky is the limit! The backdrop forms one half of your guests’ photo experience. Things to think about are how do guests know what to do? Do they take photos with their own phones or with instant cameras? How will you collect copies of the photos afterwards? A backdrop on it’s own may not be enough information to communicate to guests to take photos. You may also need to allow for additional signage to explain what they are meant to do.

Wedding Photo Station 1

Polaroid or Instax Cameras

Polaroid or Instax cameras are popular wedding photo station options. Guests can snap pictures with supplied cameras and film. Items to consider are the cost of the cameras and film which can be quite pricey. You will need more cameras and film than you think. This ensures guests aren’t “looking for the cameras”. Digital copies are not readily available so the bride and groom may not have access to all the photos captured on the night. Additionally, designating a trustyworthy guest to oversee the cameras and film is recommended in case the night gets ‘festive’!

Digital Photo Services

There are a variety of digital photo services available. Guests can receive a link to upload photos to on the night for the couple to view after the wedding. Keep in mind these services do not include the fun of instant prints. It relies on the guests remembering to take photos and upload them to the share service for the experience to be worthwhile. It can be difficult to keep guests engaged in collecting photos for you while they’re busy partying!

In the Booth Guest Cam

Last but not least! Our solution to all these problems and more? Guest Cam! In the Booth developed this world first inclusion almost a decade ago and it’s been hugely popular ever since! Guest Cam makes your guests unofficial photographers for the night while giving them the fun of the instant print experience. Moreover all the digital copies are instantly collected and collated for the couple. We supply them in a gorgeous USB folio after the wedding. Guest Cam is an open, roaming and instant photo experience in one! All our hire packages include Guest Cam at no additional cost.

Gold Coast Wedding for Sam & Annie

GOLD COAST WEDDING VENUE

T’amero Burleigh Wedding

This awesome Gold Coast wedding reception was hosted in the couple’s favourite local pizza joint, T’amero Burleigh! There’s no rules when deciding on catering options for your wedding. Your wedding should be about you and your loved ones. If you’re not the type of couple who goes out for 8 course degustation experiences, why would you have one for your wedding? Also, #pizza! There are so many amazing options for pizza catering for weddings. From food trucks to restaurants and savoury to dessert. Sam and Annie made the perfect choice of their favourite local to celebrate their wedding dinner.

Gold Coast Wedding Photo Booth Hire

A gorgeous woodland ceremony setting was straight out of a fairy-tale for Sam and Annie. The late afternoon sunlight filtered through the trees and onto the soft pine needles at foot. Guests were comfortably seated on vintage style white chairs from the Little White Chair hire service.

The bride and groom headed down to stunning Burleigh for some portraits on the beach. There’s nothing quite like golden hour for a wedding at Burleigh! The glittering vista of Surfer’s Paradise starts to twinkle in the distance as the sun sets over the high rises.

Everyone settled in for a delicious night at T’amero. Guests were gifted with sweet honey jars as their thank you gift. Pine branches and pine cones adorned the tables as a nod to their ceremony setting and the season. Amazing food and drink continued to roll out while guests chatted and In the Booth Gold Coast photo booth’d the night away!

Our lovely couple selected our classic black backdrop and Traditional print style. You can’t go past this combination if you’re looking for a completely classic photo booth experience for your guests!

Booth Hire and How We’re Different from the Other Guys…

At In the Booth hire we love events and celebrations of all shapes and sizes. We regularly attend events with our photo booths to celebrate weddings, birthdays, corporate events, school events and everything in between. With so many photo booths available these days we know it’s hard to decide on what to choose. We offer all-inclusive packages for our guests including our exclusive booth features.

With every booth hire service there’s the written and unwritten items! What do we mean by that exactly? It’s the little touches that aren’t listed in a brochure but take your customer experience from standard to “wow”! With over fifteen years in the industry we know what works and what doesn’t. We’ve spent years refining the guest experience to make it simple for guests of all ages to understand. If your ten year old nephew or your eighty year old Grandma can’t figure it out, we don’t do it! We’re not interested in launching the latest and greatest fad if it’s not going to be up to par in the special event environment.

Here’s just a few of the special touches our clients love about In the Booth that can be hard to find elsewhere:

Customer Portal

Our booking system is fully customised to you and your event. Book with In the Booth and our booking office is literally open to you 24-7! Log in any time in the lead up to your event date to make changes or adjustments. View our huge selection of options and customise the booth to suit you and your event. We believe in options – not overwhelm. If you can’t understand the services offered on a company’s website – guess what – your guests won’t understand them either. Our customer portal fully the services and inclusions on offer to you minus the headaches.

All Inclusive Booth Hire

If there’s one thing we know about our customers its that they don’t like hidden extras. Who does?! Our standard booth package includes everything in our inclusions list – crazy huh?! Make sure you chat to any booth hire companies you’re considering about their inclusions. Items such as a guest book are often not included and will cost you extra if you want one. At In the Booth, a guest book is included with all private hire packages. Just read some of our reviews to know why you need one!

Booth Hire that prints – first time and every time

We won’t pull any punches here. At In the Booth we only provide photo booth hire that includes instant prints. What we mean is we don’t offer any services that are digital only. Why? Quite simply it’s because it’s not what the customer (you) and your guests really want. The people spoke a long time ago and they want instant prints! In our digital day and age, instant prints are intrinsically linked to the nostalgia of a vintage photo booth. Almost every digital photo booth service available these days can be duplicated by an app on your phone. Instant prints are the glue that hold the fun of a photo booth together. We have received countless calls from customers who realised too late that the last booth they hired didn’t print. Don’t get caught out! Read the description and fine print in detail.

Enclosed Booth Hire for the win

We’ve never shied away from the fact that we’ve remained tight to our vintage photo booth roots. Our booths are all identical and fully enclosed and we’re not afraid to say “because it’s better!”. After all, what’s a booth without….the booth? Our enclosed booths encourage more introverted guests to have fun on their own terms. Photo booths are made for special moments and sometimes you just don’t want those moments to be in front of everyone. Last but not least, we record video WITH sound. You’ll notice a lot of booth hire companies talking about video but you’ll find they are fast-fun style experiences (they have a time and place – hey we do gif and slo-mo too!). The difference being is that the majority of other booth styles can’t record sound the way In the Booth can for our super popular video message feature.

But don’t worry, we can be open too….

We knew the right answer wasn’t an open booth which is why we designed the world-first Guest Cam! Guest Cam turns each of your guests into a roaming photographer at your event. Guests can print unlimited Guest Cams from the booth, all without even leaving their table if they so desire. Capture the fun anywhere around your event or even in front of an extra special backdrop.

Attendants

Chat to your venue if you don’t believe us on this one! Photo booth hire NEEDS an attendant, it’s that simple. Photo booths are a hard working machine and they need someone on hand to restock paper, perform quality checks and deliver those lost prints to guests! Always check with your booth hire supplier that it includes a dedicated attendant for the duration of your hire. Why the emphasis on dedicated? Because too often we receive feedback from customers and our venues regarding “shared” services. This means a company has offered a combined service, usually for a lower price for booking more than once service. Trouble is, there isn’t a single service in the event industry that doesn’t require it’s own dedicated attention. A DJ cannot DJ while he’s at the photo booth and vice versa. They are completely different services and require specialist attention for each.

Digital copies with your guests’ privacy in tact

The vast majority of photo booth hire services require guests to input their phone number or email to receive their digital copies. Not only does this clog up the booth queue, we don’t believe in forcing your guests to hand over their private information in this manner. That’s why we’re app-only! Guests can download our free app and access all their booth content in their own time; either immediately after their booth session or days or months afterwards.

Read those Reviews!

Did you know In the Booth has almost 3,000 reviews across our various platforms? We ask our clients to review us on external websites such as Easy Weddings and ABIA to ensure our reviews are qualified. At In the Booth we do not believe in editing reviews! We love reading our customer reviews in their own words. In contrast, if we receive a review that’s not up to par, it only inspires us to work harder to get things right.
