Enclosed Photobooth Hire with In the Booth
Since our inception in 2009, we’ve offered enclosed photobooth hire and enclosed photobooth hire only! Today on the blog we’re breaking down why a booth without a booth…just isn’t a booth!
Enclosed photobooth hire history
The history of the photobooth stretches way back to the start of the century. You can read some fascinating info here. Having your photograph capture in a booth was an exciting event that remains to this day!
People used to get dressed in their finest to have their likeness captured in a booth. Did you know this is where the idea of props comes from? It’s because ladies would dress in fur coats and men would don top hats and groom their moustaches! Vintage photo booth photos will often showcase what we now see as “prop” style items. However back then, it was just part of everyday dress.
The resulting instant prints were a marvel of technology at the time. Another titbit that has stood the test of time is that many guests still feel the need to wave their prints around so they “dry”. This is because genuine vintage booths used chemicals to develop photos. This meant the prints often arrive in the chute wet. Isn’t it amazing though that air drying your photos has stood the test of time and innovation!
Retro booths were enclosed to provide a protected environment for lighting. As previously mentioned, technology was amazing for the day but not all that advanced. Pulling the curtain closed on a little booth created a controlled environment for pictures.
Bringing enclosed photobooth hire into the modern day
Enter In the Booth’s unique Australian made design in 2009! Until this point, the only booths available to hire for functions were passport style booths. These booths were never design to service the special event environment. They were meant to be delivered to one location and to stay in place being over 300kg in weight. Stairs and lifts were an issue for many venues.
Our award-winning design was built on many years of experience in the event and photography industries. We weren’t interested in compromising on quality by removing the booth itself. One of the most magical features of a photo booth is when guests get to “step inside” for a little bit of fun privacy. The element of “what are they up to in there?” is enjoyed by guests at thousands of functions.
In addition, our video guest book feature provides a technical reason why we’ve never strayed from our enclosed design. High definition sound is recorded in our booths which can’t be effectively achieved in an open environment. That’s why you’ll find video with sound often omitted from our competitor’s websites!
Notwithstanding the point that we think our booths simply look beautiful. This is so important in the special event environment. Open style booths don’t have the space required to conceal the not-so-pretty technical equipment required to run a photo booth. At a wedding, the kitchen will be out the back. Why? Because it’s noisy and unsightly and it’s where the action happens to create a delicious result for dinner. Likewise with a photo booth. We’ve concealed all the business side of things in our gorgeous retro package.
We reinvented the wheel to include roaming photo booth fun
An open photo booth keeps guests tied to one open location where the camera is based. With In the Booth’s infamous Guest Cam, guests can capture “open photo booth” photos from anywhere around their event and collect their prints from the booth. It’s super fun and our customers rave about this fun feature!
At In the Booth, we’re all about expanding on the magic within our walls rather than taking them away
