Winter Event Ideas to Warm Up Your Guests
There’s just something special about hosting a winter event. Hosting your celebration in our southern states may have your plans focusing on indoor entertainment for your guests. Whereas our northern friends may be planning an outdoor spectacular to enjoy the cooler months! Wherever you’re stepping out to celebrate, we’ve got some awesome winter event ideas that will keep your guests cosy, fed, entertained and remembering your event as the best.day.ever!
Heart Warming Winter Event Ideas
Cosy up close
In the cooler months, a light rug for some chilled shoulders or knees is always appreciated! If the weather takes a sudden turn, guests who may not have come prepared will appreciate the gesture. For those celebrating in the warmer states, the night air can still turn cool. Guests taking a moment from the frivolity of the dance floor may still appreciate a light rug on their chair! Take it a step further with some fluffy bed socks for when late night chats result in cold tootsies.
Late night snack
When the cool of the evening sets in but the party is going strong, guests will appreciate a pick me up! From hot chocolate through to French fries, there’s so many options available to refuel your guests. Talk to your venue or caterer about what late night snack options they have available. Alternatively, you may have a family member who may like to provide a late night snack as a gift.
Themed gifts
What about incorporating your winter theme into the gifts for your guests? Perhaps a mini winter potted plant, hot chocolate mix, miniature bottles of brandy or even customised matchboxes! With so many websites offering customised gifts, it’s really only limited by your imagination. Customised travel mugs are super affordable. What about sending your guests home with a hot drink for the road? We all know sand from your wedding location is a super cute gift for a beach wedding. If you’re lucky enough to be saying your vows near the snow, what about little labelled bottles with water and some glitter as ‘melted snow’ from your wedding location – economical and unique!
Outdoor spaces
If you have the opportunity to make use of outdoor space for your winter event, just do it! Some cosy furniture, a roaring fire and some marshmallows may be just the ticket for guests needing a quiet moment outdoors (after a hectic night of photo boothing!). Put a responsible family member in charge of the wood supply to make sure there’s plenty of timber on hand for an epic fire into the wee hours. If you’re hosting an event away from the city lights, your guests will get to bask in a starry winter sky and listen to the party raging on indoors! Have some blankets, marshmallow sticks and gloves at the ready for those needing a little extra warmth.
Move it, move it!
It goes without saying that dancing is a favourite pastime of event goers, young and old! Make sure your entertainment for the evening is well taken care of via your band or DJ. Ensure your entertainment supplier is aware of your preferred music tastes and are seasoned professionals – keeping that dance floor filled is a sure-fire way to ensure your guests won’t notice the cold! Many DJ and band services provide music selection services prior to your event so make good use of these if available as no one knows your friends and family like you do. If you know the groomsmen won’t stay off the dance floor the moment Eagle Rock comes on, let your DJ know so they have their finger on the pulse of the party!
